Don't forget our Memory Cafe!

The  Memory Cafe has been running in Barnstaple and South Molton since 2011 supporting local people, their partners and carers with memory problems and dementia. On the second Thursday of each month, the cafe is run in the Amory Centre in South Molton. On the 1st Friday of each month, the same cafe is run in Barnstaple in the Castle Centre, although this is being moved to the Library on the 7th April.

Users can enjoy the social atmosphere for a couple of hours and take part in various activities. Help and advice is always available along with support for any concerns. The cafe is a charitable project overseen by Citizens Advice and funded entirely through donations and fundraising activities led by the cafes coordinator, Anne McKiernan.

The South Molton cafe has recently recieved a cheque for £300 from Mayor Stephen Lock from his Charity Ball Fund, along with £650 from the Town Council. This is to assist with the running costs of this valuable resource. Tescos in Barnstaple have also donated supplies of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits to the project to provide the users and their carers with refreshments to enjoy at the cafe.
