Memory Cafe

Welcome to South Molton & Barnstaple Memory Cafe

The South Molton and Barnstaple Memory Cafes meet monthly on market days and are for men and women living with dementia or memory problems and their loved ones or carers. The Cafes are run on a friendly and informal basis by trained and experienced volunteers and offer refreshments, advice and help to access other agencies as well as a time to relax and have fun in a supportive environment. Café users have free access to a skilled therapist who gives amazing shoulder, head and neck massages and visitors and new members are always very welcome. The Cafes are self-funding projects within Torridge, North, Mid & West Devon Citizens Advice.

In April 2018, a second monthly session of the Barnstaple café,  the ‘Quiet Café’ started on the third Friday of each month from 10 – 12 noon. It is  specifically for those with dementia who have hearing problems or sensitivity to noise – a common symptom of dementia – as well as those newly diagnosed who want more time to talk and seek advice.

We are very grateful to the local business community that support the Cafes in a variety of ways including as volunteers; donating the cake, drinks and other goodies or in helping us with our awareness and fund raising.
